About Acrylaat (PMMA)
All About Acrylaat (PMMA)Acrylic, also known as Perspex, Plexiglas®, PMMA is known for its clarity, formability, and is colorfast and lightfast. It is also characterized by its fairly good impact resistance. In fact, it is 30x stronger than glass and has a low specific gravity (half that of glass). It is also easier to process than glass. For example, you can deform it with heat. Thanks to its many qualities and extensive range, you will find applications in the most diverse sectors. Such as glazing, shields, store interiors, lettering, and product displays.
Extruded (Acrylate XT) and cast Acrylate (Acrylate GS): the difference between the two lies in the manufacturing process. As the name suggests, ‘cast’ Acrylate (Acrylate GS) is cast to achieve the correct thickness. However, a thickness tolerance of +/-10% must be taken into account.
Due to this production process, these sheets are virtually stress-free and therefore very suitable for post-processing. For example, you can deform it with heat. Extruded sheets (Acrylic XT) are rolled to the correct thickness. The material can be processed by Plano Plastics as desired, see the processing options below. We are happy to use our knowledge to think along with you and ultimately achieve a perfect end result.

Frequently asked questions about this material
What is the difference between acrylic XT and GS?
XT (extruded) is more affordable and perfect for custom cutting and flat applications. GS (cast) is premium: better for routing, polishing, and bending, with less stress in the material.
Do you also cut to size?
Yes. Our fully automated sheet metal warehouse supplies the saws with the right sheet material, so that we can also quickly saw large quantities to size. Provide your desired dimensions with your request.
Will I receive an invoice for my order?
Yes. You will receive the invoice in your mailbox after the order has been delivered.
If you are unsure about color or thickness, can you get a sample?
Certainly. Request samples of the colors you are considering via the product page. We will review your request within one business day and let you know in advance if there are any costs involved.
I need milling or engraving work. Is that possible?
Yes. With our milling machines, we create hole patterns, shapes, logos, engravings, and pockets. For fine cutting and engraving work, we deploy our industrial lasers. View all possibilities at Edits.
