Alucobond is an aluminum composite panel: two thin layers of aluminum with a plastic core in between. This construction makes the panel rigid and flat, while remaining a lot lighter than solid aluminum. That is why you see it used in facade cladding, signage, and exhibition construction.
Stay flat
The greatest strength of the material is that it remains flat. Large panels do not bulge or ripple, not even along their length. For a facade or a sleek exhibition wall, that is exactly what you want.
Eviction
Aluminum expands when heated, and a facade panel in full sun gets hot. Keep this in mind during installation: work with larger holes or slotted holes so the panel can move without pulling on the screws. Panels that are fixed tightly will warp visibly.
Edit
The material can be milled, edged, and bent. By milling a groove into the core, you can fold a panel into a box with raised edges, which immediately gives a facade a much sleeker look. We handle this milling to size so that the panel only needs to be folded and assembled on location.
