PET-G
PET-G, also known as
PET-G, short for polyethylene terephthalate glycol, is one of the transparent plastics, just like acrylic (Plexiglas) and polycarbonate (Lexan). PET-G is a modified version of PET, known from PET bottles: the added glycol makes the material more durable. It does not become brittle after long-term use and is heat-resistant up to 80 °C. It is also resistant to various chemicals, very wear-resistant, and easy to thermoform without pre-drying.
PET-G is more impact-resistant than acrylic, but less impact-resistant than polycarbonate. It is easy to machine with cutting tools such as drills, routers, and saws. Polishing is more difficult than with acrylic, but PET-G is exceptionally easy to thermoform and is therefore widely used for protective covers and trays; from mechanical components to displays.
The material can be processed by Plano Plastics as desired. We are happy to use our knowledge to think along with you and ultimately achieve a perfect end result.
